 I wonder if the movement in this photo will come through for anyone who's reading this, and do I want it too? Oh, sure it's all practise! Just imagine my hands going up and down, the way kids do when they realise they can change from smiling to frowning just by passing thier hands infront of their face! :) 

Today it's raining...about time too, we so desperately need rain in CA and really one does get bored of blue skies and sunshine all the time...appologies if you're stuck with rain and high winds! I felt near 50 over the weekend - some sort of bleugh vapor going around our city, everyone seemed out of sorts, and grumpy, but nothing discernible - should have stayed in bed eating bon bons and reading trashy novels!

This is me this morning...jeans, yes it's Friday! and I like them!! not so sure about the hair though, and where did those creases around my cheeks come from? Oh well, not much can be done about those, at least I didn't stick the mascara wand in my eye today - ouch! I did yesterday...you'd think at my age I would be able to not blind myself, but then I do need glasses to see, and have to take them off to apply mascara - the new butterfly lash stuff...my eyes are so small that the lashes disappear when I smile, and when I pout I look about 4, and not a pretty 4 either!

Shame my hands shake when I'm taking photos, maybe I should take them before my third cup of tea?

I am 50!

I have had a vague idea in the back of my mind, for a few months to write about what is happening to me as I approach this milestone birthday, but now is the time to put fingers to keyboard and actually write something.  I was inspired by "the invisible woman" aka Helen Walmsley-Johnson, who writes a lovely blog for The Guardian. Her entry today was on why women of a certain age should become the new selfie generation! So...I am going to take 50 selfies - if taken the same day they count as one, because I may have a close up of a white eyebrow that I want noted, or I maybe particularly pleased about how my knees don't look knobbly! 

And it's my blog!

So, today is October 16, 2014 and these are my first selfies! Yes, it's in the bathroom at work...but where else am I going to get the full effect of such style and grace on camera?
Hmmm - quite a neutral palette, apart from the leg warmers!
